A new site for us in the North of Romsey, quite near Ganger Farm.
This nature reserve is blessed with a healthy population of Great Crested Newts. Sadly there is a burgeoning growth of mostly Oak trees, and willow, which are rapidly overgrowing the preferred grassland habitat.
We are directed at a large clump of trees and asked to cut down to ground level as much as we can do in a day.
Some plants in the grass margin are 1- or 2-year regrowth from previous coppicing. These to be cut with loppers at ground level.
Trees that have not been previously coppiced have trunks up to 20cm at ground level where they are to be cut please. Arisings to be stacked where directed by Gemma (TVBC) for later removal by TVBC.
All our best cutting machines on site please. Those not cutting or snipping will have plenty of dragging to do.
Gemma will transport heavy kit from carpark to site. (Not haversacks and chairs)
Parking and access information is a little complicated … see the venue notes please.
For Satnav users the postcode is SO51 0BG. But sadly this covers about 1/3 of the estate so is of little use for the sports ground carpark.
