RHCP coppicing Jubilee Wood

Event Details

This event finished on 21 February 2024

Two days of tree cutting work for River Hamble Country Park. This is to start the rotation of coppicing of the Jubilee Wood which was planted 10 years ago.  Principle task is to coppice hazel and willow to a low stool. Use small cuttings to reduce browsing of the stool by deer. Other brash to be burned on site.  Young oak and ash to be left standing. Geoff to lead. Bernie bringing birthday buns on day 1.

All motorised and handrolic cutting tools on site please. (JR excused). Full PPE of course. The rangers have cut a thick margin of brambles on the bonfire side of the trees by tractor/flail before our visit.

Some muddy ground but sound boots should suffice. Come dressed to work through showers please.

Please read the venue notes for our first visit to this location.
