Steps down to the Hamble

Event Details

Work in River Hamble Country Park. Week 2 of 2.

We are asked to refurbish and reinforce steps that go down to the shingle shore. Date chosen for a low tide at midday. We made good progress on our first visit. There may be additional tasks to help fill the day.

Part 1 of the task, at the northern steps, will be to use slabs of oak, salvaged from bench seats, and set them into the clay ground to produce a practical set of steps. We’ll need 1 chainsaw on site please (Dennis?).

Add oak slab steps here.

Part 2 is to add stock fence  to the new fence by the high water line and a small section of new fence at the path crossroads.

Add stock fence to these new posts.

Part 3 is to work on 25m of boardwalk .

Build about 25m of boardwalk here.

Park in the Barnfield carpark by the new café then walk about 400m down to the river.

One step at a time.

Working hard above the high water mark.

It’ll be dry by July.

New steps, still at the messy stage.

Hmm?

5 more whacks please.
