Triangular fence

Event Details

This event finished on 21 June 2023

Erect a fence around the boundary of a triangular field just East of Manor Farm. The field is being ploughed (eventually) and returned to pasture.

The ground along the fence line, inside hedges, has been mowed. A contractor installed all posts. We will install stock fence and 2 strands of barbed wire to a total of 480m.   A little head-height hedge trimming may be required to avoid bump and scratch hazards. Additionally 2 new gateways to be installed in the SW corner and a few metres of mature hedge will need to be cut out. Dan will provide a brushcutter.

Park at the work location along the side of the concrete road rather than any of the other Manor Farm options. Dan has mowed a section of the verge to facilitate our parking.  The ground in the field is much too rough for regular road cars.

Week 1. Satisfactory progress on a sweltering day. 350m stockfence installed and 110m barbed wire.

Week 2. 170m stock fence to do. 4 gates to hang. Barbed wire to finish. Job done.

Our work on the right. Our rest on the left. At Manor Farm.

A roll of stock fence waiting its turn to be well hung.

Gap 1.

Gate 1.

A section of hedge. Free from nesting birds.

Gate 2, free from hedge.

Dennis and Brian worked on a double gate which was well hung but not photographed.
