Second visit. Derek leading the way.
We will be working on the bridleway path. Ideally we need everything cut back to give 4 metres clearance all the way up to the top gate, so as well as the usual brambles etc there will also be branches to cut back. The aim is to make the bridleway suitable for getting the occasional Trust lorry up to the top gate, and to make the path better for walkers, horse riders and cyclists.
There is also some wild privet inside the top gate which needs cutting back as it has heavily encroached on the Trust’s wildlife trail.
The land at the top of the bridleway can be used for a bonfire.
I suggest we bring one chainsaw (volunteer please) and both hedge cutters (Kevin & Baz?). Everyone else the usual bow saws, loppers etc. Geoff, could you please bring kindling etc for bonfire. It might also be an idea to bring the two Hippo bags we used on site last time. These can be filled with cuttings etc and taken to the bonfire, hopefully saving us a bit of time and effort.
