Weeding along the Itchen

Event Details

This event finished on 08 September 2021

A summer job for Itchen Valley Country Park. Lead by Kevin.

The task site in the water meadows has been deemed too wet to work on, so we will be starting cutting the next coup in the woodland nature reserve at the same location as last Novembers task, hopefully with out the rain this time.
Please park in the car park at the far end of the park road on the righthand side. All other details remain the same.
Please bring hard hats and power tools as previously agreed.
Sorry for the late notice of the change of plan.

Between the cafe and the airport the river flows South in several channels of varying size. On a rotation basis the lesser channels are cleared of overhanging vegetation,  mostly willow, for the benefit of Southern Blue Damselfly which breeds in these carriers. Cut material to be burned at the location. All powered and handrolic cutting tools to be used. And a set of waders, just in case.

What3words task location is corner.moment.mouth and the walk-in route is shown below in blue. Approximately 15 minutes. Remember also that you need to collect and display a visitor parking permit which you should retain to use in week 2. Please arrive by 09:30 to allow for the long walk to the work site.
